Marion's WordPress blog is here
Since my election to the Greenville City Council and with more time devoted to my novel, The Curing Season, I am no longer contributing to this blog. It does contain a lot of information about Jack Kerouac, His Holiness the Dalai Lama and other topics.

These posts meander through topics tangentially related to writing. The tragedy of the death of David Foster Wallace, the scandal of bad writing, the lonely pursuit of good -- colored and shaped by spiritual matters, tap dancing, running and hiking, and all through the eyes and mind of a writer.
Special weekly features include Tech Thursday and Figuratively Speaking Friday.
About WordPress
WordPress is an open source format, like Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird. That means the programs are open and able to be modified and if your changes are good enough, they are added to the programs.
Of course, you don't need to know anything about programming to enjoy WordPress. It is a readable format that allows anyone to comment.
Categories will direct you to past blogs on Jack Kerouac, tap dancing and writing.
The old blog
Archives of the previous Fiction Daily blog can be found here.
If you're looking for posts on Jack Kerouac, you'll find most of them in February 2008.
The good news is that because those entries are hosted by WordPress, you can search for them more more easily. You can also comment on them.
The previous Fiction Daily blog was hosted by Yahoo, and appears here. These are the same entries, but although you can read them, it's no longer possible to comment on them.
The links below give you an idea of the topics covered. You can also look up the entry on the WordPress blog and comment if you'd like.

Because of the interest in entries on Jack Kerouac and especially about his time in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, below are links to related posts. They cover Jack Kerouac's original manuscript scroll for "On the Road," which was on view at the New York Public Library in early 2008. They also take a look at Kerouac's time in Rocky Mount where he lived with his sister, Caroline, in Big Easonburg Woods, today known as West Mount.
They are listed by post number.
